Director’s Message

Welcome to Heep Hong Society's homepage.

For over half a century, Heep Hong Society has been providing professional training and education to children and youth of different abilities and their families, with the mission of helping them develop their potential and lead a fulfilling life.

From year 2000 on, we have made great strides in our services – we have set up more mixed mode centres to help children with special educational needs (SEN) such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia and ADHD, expanded our services by providing an alternative choice to parents other than government-subsidised and private sectors through ‘Supportive Learning Project’, delivered support services at kindergartens/nursery schools, primary and secondary schools to help students better integrate mainstream education.

Apart from sending staff to overseas to acquire diversified training techniques, we have also regularly invited acclaimed speakers to provide training, conducted research, produced new books and mobile apps on children's development, and organised various training courses for peer professionals, teachers and parents in Hong Kong and other Chinese communities. All these initiatives were launched to enhance the rehabilitation service quality in Greater China for the benefit of more children.

In response to the heightened demand of pre-school rehabilitation services, we pioneered a new service model to provide school-based support to students with SEN at kindergartens in 2014. In the same year, we set up the Academy for Professional Education and Development (APED) to present a full spectrum of training courses in a more systematic manner for practitioners and parents.

To address the need of our service users who have stepped into adulthood, we emphasise on continuous support and established the Jockey Club STAR Resource Centre in 2015, which is the first of its kind in Hong Kong to provide one-stop service for ASD children, youth and their families. To go further, we launched the ‘Pilot Project on Strengthening Support for Persons with Autism and their Parnets/Carers’ in 2016 to support the youth in meeting challenges at different life stages.

As always, your feedback is important to us in our continuous endeavour to improve our work. We appreciate any comments you may have on any aspects of our services or on this website.
