1999
- A series of workshops and open seminars was held to introduce Heep Hong's latest publication, "Thematic Teaching for Pre-school Children".
- A 3-day workshop on "Point Percussion Therapy" was conducted by a renowned paediatric physiotherapist from Australia, Mr Michael Chan, for the physiotherapists of Heep Hong and other organizations.
- Heep Hong officially changed its name from "Heep Hong Society for Handicapped Children" to "Heep Hong Society", as well as changed its registration status to a society limited by guarantee under the Companies Ordinance on April 9.
- An agreement was signed with the First Social Welfare Foundation in Taiwan to authorize it to publish Heep Hong's training packages in Taiwan.
- Healthy Kids Centre, the first child care centre of Heep Hong, commenced operation in June.
- Healthy Kids Centre started to provide integrated service for six children with minor disabilities in September.
1998
- Heep Hong marked its 35th Anniversary.
- Opening of the Jockey Club Parents Resource Centre in Wanchai, the first parents resource centre on the island, by Mrs Betty Tung, JP, and Mr Chau Cham Son, JP, from the Jockey Club Charities Trust.
- A 5-day Sensory Integrative Therapy Course conducted by Ms Jeanetta Burpee from the United States was well received by occupational therapists from Heep Hong and other organizations.
- A fund raising Gala Dinner with the theme "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Stars" was organized at the Grand Hyatt to celebrate Heep Hong’s 35th Anniversary.
- Sha Kok Centre was expanded and renamed as Kwok Yip Lin Houn Centre.
1997
- A Chinese painting exhibition of Huen's children was held at the Hong Kong Arts Centre to raise funds for the third parents resource centre.
- Fendi Fashion Gala Dinner was held at the Grand Hyatt to raise funds for the special project for autistic children.
- An open seminar on introducing the "Training Package for Autistic Children" was held at the City University of Hong Kong. The package, based on the world renowned TEACCH programme of North Carolina, U.S.A., was the first comprehensive training programme for autistic children written in Chinese.
- The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee-hwa, visited the Jessie & Thomas Tam Early Education and Training Centre.
1996
- Charity premiere of the film "12 Monkeys" was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to raise funds for the third Parents Resource Centre.
- Two Heep Hong's staffs were invited to Taiwan to conduct a two-day workshop on the usage of the "Developmental Learning Package" and "Child Development Guide" for teachers of special needs children.
- Mr Ian Strachan, JP, Director of Social Welfare, Mr Davie T.P. Au Yeung, representative of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Mr Paul Yu Shiu-tin, JP, the Chairman of the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries, officiated at the opening ceremony of the Jockey Club Early Education and Training Centre (Sheung Shui).
1995
- Mrs Katherine Fok, JP, Secretary of Health & Welfare, officiated at the opening ceremony of the Alice Louey Special Child Care Centre.
- Haute Couture Francaise 1995 Fashion Show Gala Dinner, the first of its kind in South East Asia, was held at the Grand Hyatt to raise funds for Heep Hong. Mrs Anson Chan, in the capacity of Acting Governor, officiated at the cheque presentation ceremony.
- The "Child Development Guide", which aimed at enhancing the understanding of parents and child care workers on child development through different angles and perspectives, was published.
1994
- "The New Elizabethan Banquet" held at the Government House on January 20 brought excitement and fantasy to guests.
- In April, with a sponsorship from the Community Chest, five early education and training centres participated in a one-year pilot project to provide home-based training to 75 children who were on the waiting list for pre-school services.
- "Patchwork for Charity" received more than 500 patchwork pieces and raised over HK$1.2 million for the Parents Resource Centres. Winning pieces were displayed at the Landmark and the Ocean Terminal. Mr Ian Strachan, JP, Director of Social Welfare, officiated at the opening cum presentation ceremony. 250 pieces of patchwork were sewn up at the event of “Patchwork for Charity - A Bond of Art and Love” held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
- Opening of "Parent-child Library" (Tai Hang Tung), the first of its kind in Hong Kong.
- Two parents resource centres received subvention from the Social Welfare Department from October. Meanwhile, the 16 special child care centres and early education and training centres began to provide 32 places of occasional child care service.
- Lady Thatcher visited Hong Kong and delivered a speech to appeal to donations for Heep Hong.
- Renamed the Hong Kong Centre to Catherine Lo Centre.
- "Gnok Gnoh Scavenger Hunt" was organized to raise funds for Heep Hong.
- The 4th Great Chefs of Hong Kong was held at the Hong Kong Hilton Hotel. To generate more revenue, raffle tickets were sold to the public for the first time.
- Heep Hong received the government's subvention to introduce two places of occasional child care service to all of its service units throughout Hong Kong.
1993
- Heep Hong marked its 30th Anniversary.
- Charity premiere of the film "City Hunter" at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre was held to raise funds for the Parents Resource Centres.
- Our patron, Mrs Lavender Patten, and our donor, Mrs Jessie Tam, officiated at the opening ceremony of Jessie and Thomas Tam Early Education and Training Centre and Tai Po Parents Resource Centre on February 26.
- "Travelling together - Developing Parents' Potential", written by Heep Hong's social workers, was published.
- "Care Begins with You" touring exhibition was launched throughout the territory.
- Mrs Lavender Patten planted a tree at the Government House to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Heep Hong on October 16. In the afternoon of the same day, a "30th Anniversary Tree Planting and Fun Fair" was held at Tai Hang Tung Estate Playground. Ms Rosanna Wong, JP, officiated at the tree planting ceremony.
- A seminar on "New Developments in Working with the Pre-school Disabled Children and Their Families" was organised on October 30 to share Heep Hong's experience and publications with practitioners of rehabilitation and parents.
1992
- Parents and staff of Heep Hong joined the "Pedal Kart Grand Prix" organised by Round Table No.3 for the first time to raise funds for the disabled persons.
- Mary Wong Centre was reprovisioned to Choi Ha Estate at Jordan Valley, Kowloon with the financial support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Our patron, Lady Wilson, and Dr Harry Fang officiated at the opening ceremony of the new Mary Wong Centre on May 9.
- Shun On Early Education & Training Centre changed its name to Shun Lee Early Education & Training Centre when the centre moved to Shun Lee Estate.
- Opening of Jessie & Thomas Tam Early Education and Training Centre (Tai Po) and Tai Po Parents Resource Centre.
- Three centres of Heep Hong participated in a 2-year pilot project, sponsored by the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the Mentally Handicapped, to provide six places of occasional child care service for disabled children aged 2 to 6.
1991
- Opening of Tin Ping Special Child Care Centre (Fanling).
- Opening of Wan Tsui Special Child Care Centre (Chai Wan).
- Head Office of Heep Hong was reprovisioned to Tai Hang Tung Estate, Kowloon, with increased staffing support from the Social Welfare Department.
- "A Translation of Occupational Therapy Related Terms" was published by Heep Hong.
- The 2nd Great Chefs of Hong Kong was held at the Hong Kong Hilton Hotel.
1990
- Opening of Portland Street Special Child Care Centre and Portland Street Early Education and Training Centre (Mongkok).
- Opening of the first Parents Resource Centre, a pioneer unsubvented project of Heep Hong.
- Opening of Wanchai Special Child Care Centre.
- The 1st Great Chefs of Hong Kong was organized to raise funds for the Parents Resource Centre.
